I am favored

If you have more than one child, do you have a favorite? We have 4 children and we do not have a favorite. Instead, we have 4 favorites. We pray that our children will always view us as giving each one unique opportunities to be blessed and succeed. But this was not the case in the Isaac household.

Genesis 25:28, And Isaac loved Esau because he ate of his game, but Rebekah loved Jacob.

Abraham had died a good old age and all he had was passed on to Isaac. Ishmael came for the funeral and he is mentioned to be occupying large areas with his 12 sons. But Isaac is to carry the Abrahamic blessing.

Isaac was anxious because Rebekah was barren. But, Isaac prayed and Rebekah bore twins and God spoke to her about how Jacob would be the leader.

Esau had seemingly poor sense of responsibility and in a silly and light manner sold his birthright to Jacob for food. He will become a nation called Edom but it appears that the blessing of the stars from Abraham will go with Jacob.

You may not be a favorite but God has chosen you for a purpose that only you can uniquely fulfill. Receive it and act on it with great fervor and responsibility. We are all His favorites.

Father, I hear you, now help me do it.

Heavenly courage and capability

Anybody reading this belongs to the military or was in the military? I commend you if you were. Whatever reason you were part of the military, it takes great courage to perform your role. "Being Ready" cannot wait

Ready for the end of the world? Ready for death? I am sure many reading this are indifferent to this question. You don't care. But if you care about what you eat each day. You care about who you meet. You care about your health. And perhaps, you even care about people, your community and/or the environment. No fear, a miracle is coming

Time to return to an old and faithful relationship

Unfaithfulness or lack of loyalty is prevalent in our society today. But was it any different "back then"? This issue is a perennial one. From ancient times you see switching of loyalties and allegiances to suit the personal agenda of the person. Sometimes this could involve an entire nation. There is a silver lining

The phrase "silver lining" is used when you want to emphasize the hopeful side of a situation that might seem gloomy on the surface. The origin of the phrase seems to be John Milton's 1634 poem "Comus," which includes the line, "Was I deceived? or did a sable cloud/Turn forth her silver lining on the night?" ( Source ).
