Many times we plan for our lives with great detail, have them written down and share these plans with friends and relatives. Usually they are great and positive plans for the future. However, these plans may come to a halt due to something we could not control. Business failure, a broken relationship, a health issue and even death. Such was the case with the disciples when Jesus died.
These are Jesus' disciples lamenting about the turn of events and unable to understand what is going on. Their hopes and plans were dashed. They knew about the women saying Jesus' body is not in the tomb and Peter confirming this. But they were still unsure what happened to Jesus. God had a different plan.
He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’
It wasn't a change of plan, but a plan developed before creation, and documented by the prophets hundreds of years before this day. The disciples did not understand this when Jesus mentioned this a number of times during His three years of ministry with them. Now they do! Yes, God had planned to suffer and die for our sins before the start of time. And, He is Risen!
And He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”
Thank you Father for your plans for my life. I don't want any other plan.
