When the end is near you sit at the edge of your seat and hope for the best ending possible. The hero must not die. The heroine must be saved. There must be great celebration at the end of good over evil. But wait before that there is that last bit showing people being beat up, people dying and the evil winning. Such was the case in this chapter of Jesus' life before He was crucified.
Matthew 26:64
Jesus said to him, “It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
Many in history denied the divinity of Jesus Christ, and still do. They say he was a prophet, a good man and a great teacher, but not God. It is obviously perplexing that they can only accept one part of his statement and not another. The Jewish leaders got very upset and were ready to kill him for his statement above. You have to take in the full account. You cannot take half the truth.
It is also amazing that Jesus said so many times that He was going to be crucified and yet the disciples stayed with Him and hoped for the best. We know they could not accept this as they all disappeared when He was captured. But Jesus emphasized that this would happen. Peter was the bravest but he too denied knowing Jesus. Prophecy was played out and it became history. The process was clear from the beginning but are we ready to accept the journey the story must take.
Father, I cannot outsmart Your plans. Help me stay correct with you.
