Horses and chariots remind me of the film Ben Hur. You can say that was one of the most impactful movies I saw as a child that pointed me to Jesus. The movie was set in the days of Jesus Christ. As a Hindu family in Muslim Malaysia, it was an eye opener. I am sure many were spoken to through the movie at that time. I googled the movie and read this powerful line towards the end of the movie when Jesus was crucified. "And I felt His voice take the sword out of my hand." Here is the link to watch the trailer for the movie.
Zechariah 6:1-4
Then I turned and raised my eyes and looked, and behold, four chariots were coming from between two mountains, and the mountains were mountains of bronze. With the first chariot were red horses, with the second chariot black horses, with the third chariot white horses, and with the fourth chariot dappled horses—strong steeds. Then I answered and said to the angel who talked with me, “What are these, my lord?”
Zechariah speaks of chariots and horses as well and speaks of the crowning of Joshua as the high priest. All a prelude to the Christ. So much again behind the prophecies of old. So hard to miss the message. Like the movie, though fictional, God's words and sacrifice on the cross takes my sin away.
I am reminded yet again that Jesus is the answer for the world today.
Father, may the the reality of the cross and its meaning be shared far and wide before it is too late.
