Your actions speak louder than your words. Your talk talks, and your walk talks, but your walk talks louder than your talk talks. Monkey see monkey do. These are common slang phrases to talk about how we have a disconnect between what we say and what we do. I apologise for using a political example. One political party raised huge doubt about the sanity and patience of the supporters of the other party, and warned of great violence when they lose the elections. Fast forward and after losing the elections, it was instead the supporters of this political party that was engaged in violence instead. There is little remorse till now for this. Such was the situation when it came to the priests of Israel. They dealt with double standards.
Malachi 2:14-15
Yet you say, “For what reason?” Because the LORD has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, With whom you have dealt treacherously; Yet she is your companion And your wife by covenant. But did He not make them one, Having a remnant of the Spirit? And why one? He seeks godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, And let none deal treacherously with the wife of his youth.
Malachi prophecies against the priests, speaking of their double standards and how their families are in disarray and not matching up with their priestly position. They seek divorce and they are a different person outside compared to when they are at home. Hypocrites? As a my friend would say, "I need to clean my side of the street first". Have I have done things that I am not proud of? Yes! I need to repent of these things and go to the Lord for forgiveness. I need to seek forgiveness from those that I have offended as well. Not easy, but I need do it. I need to come clean. Staring with my own home. Starting with Lee Yen, my wife.
Father, far be it for me to behave in this manner. I will submit to your ways in every aspect of my life. Father, continue to direct my ways in my family.
