The Bible is a great source of information and knowledge about the geography of the world in the ancient days and through the many centuries. It also helps us understand some human history. Once I spoke to a brother from India who taught history in university and I wondered whether any research had been done on how the Hindus came up with the structure of their temple which is very similar to the design given by God to Moses. He did not seem to be aware of any. It is clear that the worship of God went through the many civilisations and a proper study needs to be done to see how this traveled across the lands in the way it is spoken in the Old and New Testament.
Habakkuk 3:9-11
Your bow was made quite ready; Oaths were sworn over Your arrows. Selah You divided the earth with rivers. The mountains saw You and trembled; The overflowing of the water passed by. The deep uttered its voice, And lifted its hands on high. The sun and moon stood still in their habitation; At the light of Your arrows they went, At the shining of Your glittering spear.
Habakkuk is clear as he attributes many of the geological attributes of the earth to God. He ultimately says that he will still rejoice when all things go wrong and there is economic disaster in his household. This is after having an understanding that God is in charge in spite of the many things that are seemingly going wrong.
Habakkuk 3:18-19
Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills. To the Chief Musician. With my stringed instruments.
Father, help me to stay my eyes on you as I weather the storms of life. The joy of the Lord is my strength.
