The alarm rang this morning and I woke to another brand new day. It means I have things to do. Energy to expend to see things happen. Opportunities to improve things about myself, family, my community, my spheres of influence and others. When we fail to recognize this, our lives can become stressful or a drudgery OR BOTH. We live in an ever accelerating world where people want things quicker and quicker, failing to realize that we have "flowers to smell" around us before we rush off to the next thing. All with human effort, not recognizing that work can be fun and accelerated with little effort when done in God's way.
Daniel 8:15-17
Then it happened, when I, Daniel, had seen the vision and was seeking the meaning, that suddenly there stood before me one having the appearance of a man. And I heard a man’s voice between the banks of the Ulai, who called, and said, “Gabriel, make this man understand the vision.” So he came near where I stood, and when he came I was afraid and fell on my face; but he said to me, “Understand, son of man, that the vision refers to the time of the end.”
Daniel receives revelation that I believe has now been partially fulfilled. He talks about the Medes and the Persian kingdoms. This is overtaken by the kingdom of Greece (Alexandra) and then broken into 4 kingdoms. Then overtaken by the Ottoman empire that even went on to kill the holy people as mentioned in this chapter. However, not everything has come to past.
The bible is the only book that compiles the original writings of God's incredible engagement with man and his history in such a comprehensive way. No other book or "holy book" is as complete. From the beginning of time to the end of the age. Daniel was confused and perplexed. Why is God allowing these things to happen? Two reasons. Sin of man and men need to get right with God because our place is ultimately in eternity. Not here. When it is time, it is time.
Father, I anticipate your workings for the future and will personally work to end Gospel poverty till you say it is finished. And then I enter glory.
