There are people living here on earth who go about their daily activities like mere routine, with no long term vision. For them it may be just about having the next good meal, meeting or entertainment. There is no view of eternity that they can behold after death. If you believe there is no God then it probably does not matter. But Job has important perspectives in this chapter.
Job 10:12, You have granted me life and favor, And Your care has preserved my spirit.
He acknowledged that God had a part to play in giving him life. His well being was looked after by God's favor and care upon him. But at the same time he seems to indicate fear of death. At least in this chapter. Perhaps it is because of his suffering at this time.
Job 10:20-21, Are not my days few?
Cease! Leave me alone, that I may take a little comfort, Before I go to the place from which I shall not return, To the land of darkness and the shadow of death, A land as dark as darkness itself, As the shadow of death, without any order, Where even the light is like darkness.
No matter who you are, you will face death. Do you have any assurance of what life would be like after death? Oh yes, there is life after death. Many cultures accept this and live in great uncertainty about life after death. Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6). Watch this.
Father, I stand at awe the great favor and care you have for me. I deeply grateful.
