Everything is temporary

Many parts of the world are experiencing natural disasters. Earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornados and the like, or combination thereof. These things are increasing in frequency as scientists try to investigate methods to predict, and possibly, avert such disasters. Some call it global warning or climate change. The Word of God is clear. There will be a penultimate moment in the future when the mother of all natural disasters will happen. Not just on earth but in the universe.

Revelation 8:7, The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.

Revelation 8:8, Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood.

Revelation 8:10, Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water.

Revelation 8:12, Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.

If you are building a great big mansion here on earth, know that it is temporary. It could last a few generations, but based on what is to come, it will be destroyed. It may even happen in your lifetime.

I apologize for being so grim in this posting. The reality is that God has prepared a better place for us. We can be very comfortable with what we have.  However, we may be neglecting to receive what is better from God. If you think you are in heaven on earth. Think twice. The most basic thing you cannot have on earth is immortality. You will die one day and face your Maker.  Yes, climate change is of concern to maintain life as we know it, but just one single catastrophe mentioned here can overtake any human effort to manage the climate.  We need God's intervention.

Father, I look forward to all that is coming from you. Thank you for your presence in my life.

Heavenly courage and capability

Anybody reading this belongs to the military or was in the military? I commend you if you were. Whatever reason you were part of the military, it takes great courage to perform your role. "Being Ready" cannot wait

Ready for the end of the world? Ready for death? I am sure many reading this are indifferent to this question. You don't care. But if you care about what you eat each day. You care about who you meet. You care about your health. And perhaps, you even care about people, your community and/or the environment. There is a silver lining

The phrase "silver lining" is used when you want to emphasize the hopeful side of a situation that might seem gloomy on the surface.  The origin of the phrase seems to be John Milton's 1634 poem "Comus," which includes the line, "Was I deceived? or did a sable cloud/Turn forth her silver lining on the night?" ( Source ).  When you think about it most things is not doom and gloom.  There is a positive side that you can pick up on, because God is watching over us. Be unconventional; it is okay!

In every society and organization there are cultural norms. There are practices that are observed and are deemed normal. Anything else would be unacceptable and may cause the person committing this to be taken out. In a religious context many of these may have no relevance to the practice of the faith. They are just ways to deal with all other aspects of life together. In this regard, Jesus was fairly unconventional. Time to return to an old and faithful relationship

Unfaithfulness or lack of loyalty is prevalent in our society today.  But was it any different "back then"?  This issue is a perennial one.  From ancient times you see switching of loyalties and allegiances to suit the personal agenda of the person.  Sometimes this could involve an entire nation.  The kings, peoples and nation of Israel were no different.  But there is hope. Hosea 3:5 Afterward the children of Israel shall return and seek the LORD their God and David their king. They shall fear the LORD and His goodness in the latter days. Hosea was again asked to do a prophetic illustration. He was to take on a harlot and demonstrate Israel's unfaithfulness. It was sad. Chapter 3 of Hosea goes on to mention that there will be no king and no sacrifices. Therefore, no leader and no forgiveness of sins?
