Do you have rubbish around the house? What should you do with it? Or perhaps you are asking, what do you define as rubbish? They are things that no longer have any value to you, or to others. This is not the same as recyclables and items that could be profitably used by others. Hezekiah found rubbish in God's House.
2 Chronicles 29:5, and said to them: “Hear me, Levites! Now sanctify yourselves, sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry out the rubbish from the holy place.
Hezekiah's father had moved to idol worship and probably had elements of these in the temple. Hezekiah calls them rubbish. They needed to be cleared out. Do I have anything that needs to be thrown away in my house? That takes me away from God? It is truly time to hear God and understand God's ways. This will give us the wisdom for making the hard decisions in life. But the result of doing this will be great. Hezekiah has a great experience with the Lord and the people as a result.
2 Chronicles 29:35, Also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings and with the drink offerings for every burnt offering.
So the service of the house of the Lord was set in order.
Hezekiah started with his own sacrifice, but finished with what the people brought. This was in great abundance to the point that extra hands were needed. A good problem to have.
Father, clear out the rubbish in my life, and bring forth an acceleration of eradicating gospel poverty.
