The Way of the Master Evangelism is an approach I once heard about. Based on what I read on one website, it is a technique developed by TV-show hosts Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron, which seeks to witness to the lost by application of the Mosaic Law to show men their sin and ultimately bring them to conviction and subsequent repentance. This chapter in Hebrews shows the need and the provision for a perfect sacrifice.
But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
Who is the writer talking about? Obviously, Jesus! There are no cultures or faiths that have no concept of sin. (Apologies for the double negative). The issue is what do you do with it? God gave clear instructions to the Jewish people what they were to do in ancient times. As I review many other beliefs, including my former belief, there is the same concept of sacrifice or atonement for your sin. It is not perfect and you are never sure if it is quite enough. But Jesus changed all that.
Jesus, died on the cross, rose to life on the third day, and ascended to heaven. He did it once and for all. He has saved us indefinitely! Praise the Lord! The writer of Hebrews was clear when he wrote this chapter. He drew upon the Jewish people's ancient understanding of the King of Salem and helped them see the eternal start of the perfect and holy priest that has no lineage and does not need to present first a sacrifice for his own sins. He had NO sin to begin with, because He is God.
Father, thank you for the ultimate love you showed on the cross. Thank you for saving me.
