What is the purpose of your a visit? A commonly asked question at immigration checkpoints. Depending on how you answer the question you get through. I have never once had a problem with these questions. I remember once in my early twenties, a pastor of a fairly large church, said to me that I had a very believable face. My first Managing Director (a Muslim), when I started my first job as a Management Consultant, told me to be careful about what I said as people may take it as the gospel truth. I am gratified to be told these things. But what is the real purpose of your travel? Paul was perhaps asked this question? It was clear in the Spirit that he was going to be incarcerated.
For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves. Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.
As he said his final goodbyes across the many cities in this chapter, you can sense that he was intending to see as many of the disciples as possible before he was captured in Jerusalem. Even though he knew, he also knew that this was unavoidable. His ministry was incredible and people were prepared to hear him all night.
Now when he had come up, had broken bread and eaten, and talked a long while, even till daybreak, he departed.
This was an all day Sunday and night message. One man fell asleep, died and was raised from the dead. These accounts only goes to show one thing. The kingdom message is so important and miraculous, that all obstacles and hardships are nothing compared to it.
Father, I dedicate my life to this important task of preaching and demonstrating the kingdom. This is my purpose.
