When I was young there was always a strong motivation in my family tradition to know the future. And because we were Hindu, we followed certain practices to be able to know the future and even try to control it. In reflection of the past, I can see how it was all done in vain and it put us into a worse off condition than before. We delved into the demonic and this caused much strife and calamity. We should have known better. God is the one that holds the future in His Hand.
Isaiah 53:12
Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great,
And He shall divide the spoil with the strong,
Because He poured out His soul unto death,
And He was numbered with the transgressors,
And He bore the sin of many,
And made intercession for the transgressors.
This is the last verse of Isaiah 53. It gives a clear reference to the future coming of the Messiah. The first time I had a profound encounter with this chapter was when Rev Earl McNutt, Senior Pastor of The Stone Church Toronto, read it and broke down in tears. The message is clear and we hear God in all His love in this passage.
God was clear how mankind's salvation would come. If there was one vivid prophecy about this, it is in this chapter. You cannot deny its authenticity because they have found copies of Isaiah's transcripts that date before the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. While many have accepted Him as a prophet they could not accept Him as a suffering Messiah.
Father, thank you for sending Jesus to suffer and die on the cross for my sins. Now I live with Your presence. Help me to accept that You have the best possible future for me.
