As a leader you may need to be ready to have many surrounding you with needs. You can choose to ignore them or to make every effort to meet their needs. I believe that God brought them into a relationship with you for a purpose. Be a channel of blessing for them. This is what happened to David.
1 Samuel 22:2, And everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him.
David was in distress and running from Saul, but at the same time he was given a band of people in need as well. I wonder if his stress level went up. Mine would. But I am reminded that in my weakness I am made strong by God. I would be failing God if I do not step out in faith and depend on His strength and power to be a blessing. Too many times I depend on my own strength and shortchange God's plan to exhibit His power.
All the priests are killed as instructed by Saul, but one escapes and he comes to David. David makes a strong statement of faith here. 1 Samuel 22:23, Stay with me; do not fear. For he who seeks my life seeks your life, but with me you shall be safe.
David knew, I know, and now you know that we will be safe. Thank you Father.
